Over breakfast I tell Alicia exactly what needs to happen. “Curtis, you have to kill him today. The clocks ticking. Once it’s done, I’ll explain what this whole thing is about. Give him a call and arrange to meet him at his apartment. What time does he finish work?”

Alicia has bags under her eyes. Last night, she struggled with the pace. It was 4:00 AM before we finally let her sleep. She’s a new toy, and it’ll be a while before the novelty wears off. If she does end up joining the crew, then I’ll keep her precisely as she is. Soft, round and chubby faced—she’ll appeal to a completely different marketplace. No dieting or rigorous work outs for her. “Curtis is a drug dealer,” Alicia says. “He works pretty much when it suits him.”

“Tell him that we’re all coming over. Suggest an orgy. What man wouldn’t go for that?”

She starts texting. “So we offer him heaven and then send him to hell.”

Clara almost chokes on her cereal. “What a great line. You should write poetry or something.”

Alicia tuts. “Poetry is heartfelt emotion put into words. I’m a fucking psychopath. So no, I don’t think I’ll be starting anytime soon.”

“I was only saying.”

I love watching the dynamics between these two. It’s better than a soap opera. “Let’s do it. Fuck his brains out first, and then kill him. At least he’ll die with a smile on his face. It seems like the moral thing to do.”

Alicia pushes her breakfast bowl to one side. “I’m sure it will make him so much happier. Think of the bragging rights.” She picks up her cell. “He says come over in an hour. Love Curtis.
